Squirrel Bombs

Posted a couple of quick pictures yesterday from our drive around Rocky Mountain National Park. We stopped at various turnouts on the loop road, visited two of the four Visitor Centers, and generally just stared at the scenery.  We got 'home' to the campsite in time for lunch, then set up the chairs and started to read a little and simply enjoy our meadow.  Tom decided to take a hike, and he crossed the meadow in front of us and climbed the ridge to our right.  I have pictures of this adventure, but I really need to put arrows on the pictures so you can see him.  But here goes anyway.

The ridge from our campsite.  Tom is actually in this picture, but you cannot see him.  See that bright white puffball cloud that extends slightly left?  Under the biggest puff is a tree that extends into the sky from the ridge line, straight down from that is a small green patch of meadow on the ridge, further down is a shrub in our campsite which is just left of the fence post in the middle of the picture.  Got it? Teeny green patch in line with camp shrub and pine tree on the ridge? Now go one green patch to the left.

Zoomed in as far as I can, Tom is the teeny light colored blip at the top of the green patch along the ridge in front of the pines.  His green patch is the one in the middle of the picture. You can see the stick out pine and the camp shrub in line with the patch to the right.

Shortly after, a light sprinkle started, so I moved the chairs under the pine tree.

But the tree kept dropping bits of pinecones and tree matter...until I realized I was being bombed by a squirrel much higher up in the tree.  Here is the bombing range behind my chair.

Right after that the rain really started to come down, so we moved inside the Beach House and I started this entry.  It rained for about an hour and we ended having blue skies and fluffy white clouds again.  We will have a light supper tonight and then head out in the morning towards Wyoming where I can get this posted.
